I have pointed people to that site without issue multiple times, so it should work. However, OEM copies of XP Pro are usually less than the $199 you'll be charged on the WGA site, so if you don't mind a clean reinstall, you can save some money there.

I've purchased these for users that didn't want to go through a reinstall. Since you are planning to reinstall anyway I'd suggest buying an OEM copy and editing the setupp.ini file if needed.
