eyeball Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 (edited) Hi all,has anyone here used windows XP FLP (fundamentals for legacy pcs?)iv installed it on a virtual pc to have a look at and i cant see much difference to be honest. there is a few new services in there including ipv6 helper but i cant really see what MS have done to improve it.i realise im running in a vpc so it may not be accurate, but can anyone link me to a good document explaining the differences as there really is very little on the net regarding this.also i have installed the full version and i realise there are very limited versions available (such as the version for using to connect to a terminal server) but my question really relates to the full install and how it compares with standard xpthanks Edited January 30, 2007 by eyeball
dirtwarrior Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 I have used it and then reformatted HD to install regular xp. You will be much better off with a conventional xp nlited.
cluberti Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 It's not an "improvement" per se - it's actually a version of XP based on XPe. It is basically meant to be used for web browsing and RDP or ICA connections to terminal services or Citrix servers. Hopefully you've checked this link already - note that it's only meant for select Microsoft customers with a Volume License agreement with SA - meaning this is meant to be a thin-client OS to run on old(er) hardware in businesses, not on your grandmother's home PC .
eyeball Posted January 31, 2007 Author Posted January 31, 2007 lol, my grannys pc yeah thats the link iv read thanks cluberti. i guess its useful for a thin client then as you say. anwyay i was just testing it as i was curious lol thanks
