January 30, 200719 yr Is it possible to install WSUS 2.0 with SP1 on a SBS server (Small business server) that ALSO holds a domain? if yes what are the disadvatages and advantages? Or would it be better to install on a different server altogether?Thx
January 30, 200719 yr I've Installed WSUS SP1 on a Win2003 Std. Edition Domain Controller, and it works fine.
January 31, 200719 yr The only limitation, per se, is that it'll detect you're running SBS and limit you to port 80 (no SSL). If you've got a small number of seats that will hit the SBS server, it should be fine there. However, with 70+ clients (the upper end of SBS), it can create some disk I/O and CPU load via the SQL server when clients are requesting updates, or the server is checking for updates from Microsoft.

Personally, I don't like installing IIS...check that...any web server on a DC unless I have no other option (i.e. only one server available...as is the case with most SBS domains).
