Please could you assisst. I have purchased a adsl modem/wireless router Belkin asdl2+. I have setup a wireless network. Details: My desktop PC is connected to the router via networking cable. im have a 3com ethernet card on the pc. my laptop is using a wireless connection. I effortlessly setup the internet on the desktop pc. i setup a home wireless network with a windows wizard. my laptop connects to this network and i also use the internet on the laptop. al this appears to be working well. my ip addressess (within network) desktop pc xxx.xxx.2.2, router xxx.xxx.2.1, laptop xxx.xxx.2.4. my pc, router and laptop all use the same authentication protocols etc. i have "right clicked" folders (on bith pc and laptop) and enabled files sharing in the security/sharing options. However, i have absolutely no idea how to view the other computers (respectively) folders. ie. while working on the desktop i'd like to see the folders of my laptop and vice versa, and to copy then between the two computers. it appears that the network is setup, but i cannot figure out how to 'view' the other computer. ive also searched for this on the net, each time i get explanations on how to enable files sharing, but nowhere on how to actually view and copy, move, delete etc files on the other pc.

i hope this is a relatively simple task and would appreciate some pointers on how to access the respective computers.

You have to go to "My Network Places" and click on "View workgroup computers" in order to view a list of all of your computers. Otherwise, you can browse to a specific computer by opening up any Explorer window ("My Computer", as an example) and typing in the name of the computer you're trying to access as follows:

\\computernamehere

Replace computernamehere with the name of the computer you're trying to access.

thanks, the reason why i couldnt view anything was a lot more comlicated. the network was not properly configured. it appears that a wireless network between xp home and pro is not that easy to set up. now its done, after a laborous night i may add.
