I've just got a copy of MCE 2005 so that I can run that for a bit then upgrade to Vista HP. Now i've installed the first 2 discs installed fine which gives me MCE 2002 SP2. Then when I put the update rollup disk in it starts to install and then says that there is an error, rolls back the installation and then reboots.

Anyone got any ideas of how to sort this out?

1. You already have MCE 2005. Checking you PC's properties will always say Windows XP version 2002. Thats the XP version. To confirm your MCE version, check it within MCE itself. Go to this thread for more info: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=89471

2. That also means that installing that update is not going to upgrade your version tp 2005, but will just install update Rollup 2 for MCE 2005.

3. Please confirm if the update disk is really update Rollup 2 for MCE 2005 and also post the exact details of the error you are experiencing.
