Hi, hope you guys can help

Im trying to set up a link between my home PC, with Broadband internet connection via moden, and my Laptop via wireless

The main reason for this is to get wireless internet on my laptop.

Both PC and Laptop are wireless enabled

So far ive set up a peer-to-peer network via wireless which connects fine, ive set the option on the PC to enable internet sharing uder the advance tab in 'Wireless Netwrok Connect Properties'.....

.....but no internet on the laptop

Im stuck! Any ideas?

I dont have a hub, which I know would be an easy fix, but id ike to just sort it on a peer-to-peer network

My Network; INTERNET MODEM - to - PC - to - WIRELESS PEER TO PEER NETWORK- to - LAPTOP

Cheers

Andy

when you connect your laptop to your desktop wirelessly, is the default gateway and DNS information correct? DNS should match your desktop's settings, while I believe the default gateway should be the IP address of your desktop PC

When you set up ICS on the desktop - did you choose to share the network interface attached to the router, or the interface attached to your wireless network?

rendrag - my DNS settings are set for windows to determin automaticaly, If i was to manualy set them how would I find out what they are?

cluberti - The only time I told the desktop to share was in the advance tab in 'Wireless Netwrok Connect Properties'. Is this what you mean

I appreciate the quick respones guys!

Thanks

Yes - that means you're sharing the wireless connection's internet connection, which it doesn't have. You need to share the network connection connected to the broadband router, otherwise all inbound traffic for the internet will attempt to reach it via the wireless card.

BRILLIANT!

Cheers for your help guys I got it sorted!

Its what cluberti said to do, I needed to make sure the internet connection was shared to the wireless connect, not the other way round!

Thanks again

Andy
