cwatson Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Hi there,My home PC was running windows 2000 and it’s on a 64 chipI got a XP CD from work licensed for employees to put on there home pc's so I thought I might as well upgrade, so I did the upgrade etc and all seemed well. Then I lost site of both my CD drives, also I get an error saying Windows explorer has experienced an error and needs to close down and also the same for DrWatson making me loose my task bar and all my desktop icons so i have to restart.Im not sure what steps I need to take now to sort this, im guessing the CD drives just need the drivers reinstalling as they can be seen in the bios. Can anyone point me in the right direction or spread any light on this.ThanksCarl
eyeball Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 can you update your xp at all? or is it totally unusable?
IcemanND Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Best bet, backup you data and reload XP on a clean, freshly formatted drive. I have never seen and upgrade of and M$ os go without problems.
cwatson Posted January 16, 2007 Author Posted January 16, 2007 I think im going to back up and start from scratch, so will get back to you on that one and see hos it goes.
