Can some one please help me is there a way of making a stand a lone unattended install of office xp ie the same way you do on the win xp update site, or is it the same was as the site says, and edit the autorun setup bit.

Yes, you can use the guide on the site to make a standalone unattended Office XP CD. There was a thread a while back containing an autorun file that worked for someone which installed Office straightaway upon insertion of the disc.
