Lolita Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Well i have managed almost anything to work as i wnated it (or i know how can i make it to work as i want), but i still wonder how can i make it so i can specify computer name in RIW wizzard. And then join it to domain etc. (don't create new acc in domain group for it, just join). Can you help me with it please?
Lolita Posted February 8, 2007 Author Posted February 8, 2007 (edited) I have edited logon osc. like this...<FORM ACTION="CHOICE">  User name: <INPUT NAME="USERNAME" MAXLENGTH=255>  Password: <INPUT NAME="*PASSWORD" TYPE=PASSWORD MAXLENGTH=20><BR>Domain name: <INPUT NAME="USERDOMAIN" VALUE=%SERVERDOMAIN% MAXLENGTH=255>  Comp name: <INPUT NAME="MACHINENAME" MAXLENGTH=255>cdkey (oem): <INPUT NAME="CDKEY" MAXLENGTH=255><INPUT NAME="NTLMV2Enabled" VALUE=%NTLMV2Enabled% MAXLENGTH=255 type=VARIABLE><INPUT NAME="ServerUTCFileTime" VALUE=%ServerUTCFileTime% MAXLENGTH=255 type=VARIABLE></FORM>...But still after ris wizzard ends i have computer with standard generated name (that i have set in server properties in AD) in AD OU. ): Where can i disable "machinename overwrite"? HmongGuy Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 (edited) I was wondering why not just set the GPO under -user configuration |_windows settings |__remotes installation services |___Choice Optionsand enable Custom setup so that when you start up ris you can assign a computer name. It won't add if you already have one set up for that guid i believe. I hope that helps some. Edited February 8, 2007 by HmongGuy
Lolita Posted February 9, 2007 Author Posted February 9, 2007 I have run gpedit.msc on server, enabled custom setup, but it is still same. \:Btw i have also set this in AD on RIS serverDo i need to change somehing else too?
Br4tt3 Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Just a suggestion:We solved this issue by creating our own .osc screen that will create a variable within the temp unattend file created for each machine that installs using RIS. Once the machine is in a full win32 environment, it would be easy to script the name of the machine and the move between OUs using the variable earlier in the CIW/.osc screens...
HmongGuy Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 (edited) I don't know what program that you are using for ris but i set my gpo like so. other then that I have no more clues to help. sorry Edited February 13, 2007 by HmongGuy
acelaya77 Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I have run gpedit.msc on server, enabled custom setup, but it is still same. \:Btw i have also set this in AD on RIS serverDo i need to change somehing else too?I tried this as well. It does not seem to apply to a local policy (perhaps only a setting that allows local to overide global?), and requires the GPO to be created and linked to the accounts with which you login during RIS setup. It has to be a Group Policy Object from within Active Directory.
