snooz
hyI have a few questions. In want to make a silent install of IE7 using the IEAK 7 from Microsoft.I have ended all steps and the final files includes along with the others one more file named "Install.ins"This contains all customize settings i made with IEAKHow can I use Install.ins along with the IE7 file?I installed the .exe succesfuly silent but without information from Install.insI searched on the net but i didn't find anything concludent.Whenever you get to the end of the IEAK and it builds the package it puts it into the following folder by default:Directory of C:\builds\"DATE"\INS\WIN32\ENYou will have the following files in there:10/27/2006 10:18 AM 2,091 axaa.inf10/27/2006 10:18 AM 4,781 BRANDING.CAB10/24/2006 10:22 AM 0 custom.cif10/27/2006 10:18 AM 7,761 custsec.inf01/06/2007 04:51 PM 16,621,568 IE7Setup.exe10/17/2006 06:07 PM 2,510 IESetup.CIF10/27/2006 10:18 AM 1,557 inetcorp.inf10/27/2006 10:18 AM 9,488 inetrest.inf10/27/2006 10:18 AM 4,663 inetset.inf11/03/2006 04:19 PM 1,541 INSTALL.INSAll the files in the above folder have been packaged into IE7Setup.exe using iexpress. If you want to see how the install stuff is done extract IE7Setup.exe and look at the files in there. It will look like this:10/27/2006 11:18 AM 132,608 advpack.dll10/27/2006 11:18 AM 4,781 BRANDING.CAB10/27/2006 11:18 AM 15,520,048 IE7-Setup.exe10/27/2006 11:18 AM 38 IE7Setup.cmd10/27/2006 11:18 AM 31,352 ieakcust.dll10/27/2006 11:18 AM 382,976 iedkcs32.dll10/27/2006 11:18 AM 2,932 iesetup.cif10/27/2006 11:18 AM 31 iesetup.ini10/27/2006 11:18 AM 100,472 inseng.dll10/27/2006 11:18 AM 1,541 INSTALL.INS10/27/2006 11:18 AM 1,170,040 Urlmon.dll10/27/2006 11:18 AM 826,488 Wininet.dllOpen up IE7Setup.cmd and you will notice the following command-line:%~dp0IE7-Setup.exe /ieak-full:%~dp0 %*That command is what tells it is an IEAK install and uses the INSTALL.INS and other files to incorporate your settings. You can also add /passive /norestart to the end of it to play around with what the user sees.Hope this helps. ratba_tardly
snooz, the switches should go where exactly: inside the .cmd file or ? Is this a way around the AK7 limitation for stage 3 that requires a "Corporate Admin" license? Or did I get the wrong version of the AK?tanks!rat
gosh
If you're installing ie7 during windows setup it's very easy to use install.inf. Simply delete install.in_ and put install.ins in it's place, windows will use that. You can also point to the install.inf using the unattend file for windows xp setup.-gosh
