burnzdog Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Another quick question....Ive been using wininstall LE to create MSI file using the before/after method but found that its a bit hit and miss. For example. Im trying to create a MSI for Acrobat Reader 7 but when the final MSI is created it does nothing?Am i using the best tools and methods for doing this? Thanks
oioldman Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 i used to use winstall le and thought it grabbed way to much stuff. not looked at in long time sorry.acrobat already has an MSI as part of the install, it extracts to %programfiles%\acrobat\reader.this can be modified using the adobe acrobat tuner available to make changes as desired to it
paper Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 For Adobe, you can download Adobe Customization Wizard 8 to create MSI and MST. (Adobe has released Adobe Reader 8 btw). As for a "general" way to create MSI's.. I'm still trying to figure that one out.
cluberti Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 There are free tools, but I've done this for years and I swear by Adminstudio from Installshield/Macromedia. It isn't cheap, but it's really good.
