hunterdg Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 (edited) on the 'unattended' page, 'Users' tab, of nlite, I check the 'active' box for both the 'administrator' and 'hunter dg' (my preferred username), and check the blank password box for both. This results in a user account of 'owner' being installed. Where does this come from?http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g236/hun...unk/userbox.jpgIf i perform a normal install, (not unattended), i can create my 'hunter dg' user on the welcome screen, and no 'owner' account is installed, but there is a 'administrator' account. this is the way i prefer. i have tried renaming the 'owner' account to 'administrator', thinking that it actually is the original admin account that just somehow gets renamed, but when i do, i get a dialog box : 'an account named 'administrator' already exists, type a different name' even though the administrator account is NOT listed in 'user accounts', where it normally is when a regular, attended install is performed.. what gives?http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g236/hun...nameaccount.jpganother strange thing: when i fill out the 'full name' field of the administrator user with 'administrator' or 'hunter dg' (the 'full name' used for the hunter dg account) the box turns red, as if i am not allowed, and if i switch away, and then back again to the administrator account, that field is blanked out.. what does the 'full name' of the account have to do with anything? http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g236/hun...nk/adminred.jpgalong the same lines, why, when i select 'fully automated install' am i prompted to enter the administrators full name in order to have a fully automated install? I'm never prompted for that field in an ATTENDED install, nor in a 'hide pages' unattended install. http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g236/hun...insfullname.jpgand one last thing.. a suggestion.. possibly add the 'optional networking components' and 'networking services' options to the 'network' registry tweaks? namely support for UPNP user interfacehttp://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g236/hun...ingservices.jpgTIA for any help regarding the users issue.. it baffles me Edited December 28, 2006 by hunterdg
nuhi Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 That is the XP Home edition feature. Dont' know exactly why does Owner shows itself on the screen...did you set the autologon to 'hunter dg'?Just to let you know that it's not a bug but it would be nice to prevent it from being shown on the list. You can search the net for XP Home edition Owner account and you'll see that Administrator account is locked in other than safe mode and Owner is something like Administrator for the Professional.'administrator' as a full name is forbidden by Windows. Just leave it empty and it will be username, administrator. To set Unattended full name go to the Owner tab and fill it out.
hunterdg Posted December 28, 2006 Author Posted December 28, 2006 (edited) ok, thanks for the reply.. i DO have XP home, and i saw something along those lines when i serached but i dismissed it because the 'owner' user does NOT get created when doing an old fashioned attended install where you enter the desired usernames at the welcome screen. thus it is probably something that can be fixed... unless it's just a symptom of unattended setups.. i'll just delete that user..and i don't see an "owner" tab on the unattended page.. http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g236/hun...nk/userstab.jpgbut why is ANY full name required for an unattended install? i am NEVER prompted to enter a full name for any user during an ATTENDED install.. thx again..
