Private_paula29 Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 (edited) hi guys!i already searched the forum but found nothing usefull for my following problem...i just installed a fresh XP Pro(prepatched with sp1) with SP2 and all updates the updater gives me. now if i install the driver for the AC97 onboard sound i get a BSOD with following stop:STOP 0x7E (0xC05, 0xB858F46D, 0xF8981A54, 0xF8981750)in portcls.sys B858F46D base at B858F000i allready installed XP a second time. this time without sp2 --> same BSODsp2 and no updates--> BSODnvidia graphic and intel chipsetdriver installedNorth Bridge Intel Springdale i865PESouth Bridge Intel 82801EB ICH5Audio-Controllertyp Intel 82801EB(M) ICH5need any more info?p.s. please excuse my spelling. didn't use my english quite a while...[edit]completed the stop error message and tryed to correct my spelling[/edit] Edited December 28, 2006 by Private_paula29
nitroshift Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 (edited) Are you installing the driver off the cd that came with the motherboard? Try downloading the newest driver off the website of the manufacturer and see if it happens again. If you give me the make and model of the motherboard, I'll point you to the driver download page. Also, you may want to download the latest chipset driver from here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/scripts-df...ms〈=eng and the latest graphics driver (although unrelated to your problem) from here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_93.71.html.
