archon79 Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 I am working on the following setup.Phone Line > Modem > Server > Switch > 7 WorkstationsThe server is running Windows 2003 and has two ethernet ports, one to accept the Modem (incoming), the other to output to the Switch (outgoing)Well the other day I changed our internet provider and got a new modem. But the internet does not work anymore. The internet works fine when connecting a Workstation directly to the new modem, but when you connect it through the server in the usual way something is blocking access.I think that Win 2003 is set up in a secure fashion and something needs to be changed. IP settings? Please give me some ideas of where to start. Thanks
fizban2 Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 when you changed providers did you go from a static IP to dynamic?? check the TCP/IP settings for the Internet NIC card and see if a static IP was set or it is setup to dynamically receive an IP, when you connect the modem to a single PC and it works what kind of IP does that computer get?
Ponch Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Have you checked the "Advanced" tab of the new connection ? It could also be the firewall settings.
