Maleko Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 Firtly...I have found a link to a support file on Raxco's website, but haven't been able to access their site all weekend...the link is:http://www.raxco.com/support/windows/kb_details.cfm?kbid=494I have tried their front page...just get page cannot be dispalyed.Anyway, the problem...When i go to do an offline defrag I just get an error message about a Driver Conflict, and it can't continue, then carries on booting to Windows...can anyway get onto the Raxco site? Or know why I get this error?Im running PD8 (registered), Latest update.
Zxian Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 Are you running virtual device software (Daemon Tools, Alcohol, etc)? There's a known conflict between these types of software and PerfectDisk. You'll need to disable the virtual device drivers before running your offline defrag.I can access the page from here...I've saved the HTML and uploaded it here.Raxco_support_page.htm
Maleko Posted December 3, 2006 Author Posted December 3, 2006 ah, must be my Daemon tools then!I use that for image mounting, so ill disbale that, then scheduale the offline defrag. Many thanks Zxian, thnks for uploadinng the HTML as well! (still cant get on their website!)
Maleko Posted December 3, 2006 Author Posted December 3, 2006 hhmm, didnt seem to work...disables Alcohol and Daemon tools, also Norton Ghost...still same error...will have to contact their support maybe wen i can access their site!
Maleko Posted December 4, 2006 Author Posted December 4, 2006 aha!Found a fix:http://www.planetamd64.com/index.php?showt...26574&st=20Which is:'sptd.sys' which is loaded by Daemon Tools.....'sptd.sys' is also used by Alcohol 120%.Disabling this allows Perfect Disk to work fine in offline mode......here are directions if anyone is using this driver.......1) Right click on “My Computer” and select “Manage”2) Click on Device Manager3) Click “View” and then select “Show Hidden Devices”4) Click “View” and then select “Devices by Connection”5) Scroll down until you see 'sptd'6) Right click on 'sptd' and select “Disable”. Click “Yes” to confirm disabling of this device Windows will prompt you to reboot. Select “Reboot Later”7) Open Raxco PerfectDisk v.8 and select “Offline Defragmentation”.8) Reboot system9) Perform a boot time defragmentation pass with PerfectDisk10) After the boot time defrag has completed and Windows has restarted, re-enable sptd by following the above instructions and selecting “Enable”.
Maleko Posted December 4, 2006 Author Posted December 4, 2006 Probably most likely, will probably try it wen I do a new format and install alcohol then try offline, then insatll daemon, find the culprit But i do agree most likely Alcohol.
