uriah Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Recently windows crashed for reasons unknown to me. This resulted in major corruption of the boot drive. I installed a western digital 500 gig sata 2 drive and used norton ghost to move all remaining data to the wd drive then reformatted the other 2 hard drives and did a full reinstall.I am able to access the 2 eide hard drives drives which are partitioned into 2 drives each. Disk management recognizes the sata drive and lists it as healthy and active. However, all options are grayed out except for delete partition. But windows explorer does not see the drive. Norton Partition Magic 8 also recognizes the drive And states it is a goback drive. I had Norton goback installed prior to the crash but have not reinstalled it as it had interfered with my linux partition install in the past (have not installed dual boot linux yet this time).Anyone have any suggestions as to how I can retrieve my data.
IcemanND Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 if the drive had GoBack installed before you moved everything then you need to turn off GoBack protection on that drive. Check out Gobacks site for the how to. There is a command line utility you run if memory serves that will allow you to access the drive again. If you don't care about what is on it then low level format it and start over.
