copy and pasting between word documents

I have difficulty pasting one word document into another.

The document appears to paste but only shows the first page.

It is also surrounded by a outline and if I click on the document just pasted it returns to the original document pasted and enters a new untitled document in the taskbar at the bottom of the page.

I have used this facility many times but I cannot see why this is now not performing as required. I assume that an option or setting has been altered at some point without me knowing.

I have a deadline to produce a document which at present, I am unable to put together. PLEASE HELP!!!

Bizarre. Try instead Insert-->File
