I ran bootvis last weekend, and scheduled a test for the next boot, so the PC rebooted and showed me the results, I tried to optimize the boot time with bootvis (was about 40 seconds), but I got an error saying the service could not be located, and that I'd have to defrag manually before running bootvis. Which I did, but I got the same error. Now my boot time is 1min 40secs. Anyone know what went wrong??

Thanks for the help

Just remove schedule settings & delete all the previous trace+drivers settings.

Then delete the bootvis folder. Again install bootvis & then follow these steps.

1> Uncompress the file.

2> Run BOOTVIS.EXE

3> For a starting point, run Trace / Next Boot + Driver Delays. This will reboot your computer and provide a benchmark.

4> After the reboot, BootVis will take a minute or two to show graphs of your system startup.

5> Note how much time it takes for your system to load (click on the red/brown vertical line).

6> Then run Trace / Optimize System.

7> Re-Run the Next Boot + Drive Delays.

8> Note how much the time has decreased. Mine went from approximately 29 to 19 seconds (i.e. 10 seconds faster boot).

:) Enjoy.

Just a sidenote...

Make sure the Task Scheduler service is not disabled. I think BootVis (and some other apps) rely on it to work.
