damo12 Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 I am attempting to host a website using Windows Server 2003 on a virtual machine (VM), to determine if I can get it to work before I install it as the host OS. Is the DNS Server IP Address the IP address of the VM e.g. 192.xxx.xxx.xxx or is it the public static IP address of my line e.g. 202.xxx.xxx.xxx? I need this information to delegate my name servers to my computer from the domain registrar.
fizban2 Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 it will be the public IP of your line, the 192.x..x.x will not work on the internet, you should have it where the public ip (202.x.x.x) goes to a NAT on your netowrk and then routed to your VM (192.x.x.x)
