How To Sync Your WM5 and RC1 with Outlook

Featured Replies

this is what i have been waiting for.

the following is a description of what i did to sync my motorola Q but i am going to assume it will work for the rest of the WM5 devices.

1. open regedit

2. navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft"

3. create a new key named "WHOS"

4. connect your device

5. go to M$ update and check for new updates

6. you will see a new 7mb update available for Windows Mobile Device Center

7. choose download and install

8. be very patient and dont mess around with your device or windows because you might loose explorer etc.. but if you wait it out your happiness will begin shortly (it took nearly 15 minutes on my machine to finish) and when it was over i had no explorer but i did a ctr/alt/delete then logged off and back on again and the sync icon was in my taskbar and everything is syncing perfectly.

i must say this is so much better than activesync and i am glad i no longer have to contemplate going back to XP just for syncing.
