I am trying to get our ris built machines to recognise the Conexant HDA D110 MDC modem on a Dell D620 laptop. All other drivers install correctly but the system does not recognise the modem. I have downloaded the driver from dell, extracted the files to a drivers folder that gets copied to the machine and added the inf file location to the OemPnpDriversPath in the ristndrd.sif file. This has worked for all previous modems but not this one. I have also grabbed a second inf file from the temp folder that gets created when you run setup but this hasn't helped. If i try and install the driver through device manager and point it to the drivers folder it fails to find drivers but if I run setup manualy it installs correctly. Any ideas on how to get this modem installed automaticaly?

I've got a few of those and seem to recall that you had to install the sound drivers first. The D620's have that HD Audio I believe, and unless you run the installer for the sound drivers (And not just install by the INF's) then it won't allow you to install the modem. I hope I'm wrong, because it's a real show stopper in regards to unattended installs, but I think that might be your problem.

I've seen the same problem. One thing I've noticed in the folder is the hotfix KB888111. I wonder if this is a required update for the drivers to be installed.

Yeah, it definantly has something to do with that update. I don't know why it's hidden though, since it doesn't show up on Windows Update. I've never gotten around to it but I figure you could slipstream/unattended install it and then the bare .inf driver might work.
