pontypool Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 (edited) I have encountered this problem ever since I updated windows , although I am not 100% sure that is the cause.I have a shared folder lets call it applications (using simple file sharing). it contains all of the apps i download , so they can be installed by other users on my network at their lesiure. Prior to my new problem, all I had to do was add a new application inside this folder and it would immediately set this file as shared , no problem. However I am now finding that the new file cannot be accessed by other users on my network, the only way they can access the new files is if I unshare apply / reshare apply this folder, which once again sets the whole folder and sub folders as shared. As you can imagine this is very time consuming and frustrating. I was then advised by people from "experts exchange" to disable simple file sharing and set the security and share permissions of this folder to "everyone" and give them certain privelleges, like read and access. However when I download a new file into this folder, I can clearly see that the rules that apply to this folder do NOT apply to this new file, same deal as before.. I have to reset the share parimeters to include newly added files, or I have to manually change share permissions for these individual newlly downloaded items.Experts exchange could not help me, but since i suspect this is an issue with one of the security updates of windows, i am very hopeful someone here can answer a long experienced problem I am having to deal with..Thanks in advance.Anthony.btw I dont understand batch scripting.
