Spuratic Crashes In Windows 98 FE

Good Morning.

So, I added more memory to my Internet Computer (512 = 768) and my computer is Crashing spuratically.

At one time, it crashed, and started to add up the amount of memory I had, began and dated back to December 1997

When I jumped into system.ini the maximum file vcache was blank so, I added "MaxFileCache=524288" eventhough, my computer was seeing the whole 768 before I made this tweak.

I'm also using Free RAM XP to "Free Up" ram when it dips below 65.

I tried shutting it down last night, and, it crashed again so, I just turned off the computer's power supply switch. This morning all is well (No Scanning Disc Upon Powering Up), but, I would like to get to the bottom of this.

Run MemTest86+ for a few hours.

Well, I think Free RAM XP was the cause of the problem. I turned it off, and, all is well.

This agrees with my experience, "RAM optimiser" programs rarely work as intended. Most are purely cosmetic.
