Paul C Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 (edited) My friend is having problems with his MS Office, he has had it installed for about 3 months but all of a suden when he creates a new document (or spreadsheet) and tries to type it tells him that the document cannot be amended, also it has a lock icon at the bottom of the page.Any ideas anyone? spacesurfer Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 If you are specifically referring to Excel, it has a function to lock cells or lock the whole document. I've never seen the lock icon that you mention.Word has a template called Normal.dot. I'm not sure if templates can be "locked" but it could be. You can try to search and delete normal.dot. Word will create a new one so this is safe.for excel, I don't believe it uses a template.
Paul C Posted August 22, 2006 Author Posted August 22, 2006 Thanks, I've never heard of this either, I'll just tell him to delete normal.dot.Thanks againPaul
spacesurfer Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 The location for normal.dot is usually %userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates
