Internet Explorer problem

Featured Replies

My roommate is having problems displaying web images on any website when running Internet explorer. I recently heard that many others are experiencing this problem, although I haven't had the problem myself. There's supposed to be a patch out there and I can't find the link. Can anyone help me out? My roomie is running a laptop with W2K and Internet Explorer 6 SP1.

I've not heard of this being a widespread problem, nor of a patch as such.

Only thing I can think to check is in Tools... Options... Advanced... make sure the box is ticked next to 'show pictures'.

Also, check disk free space, and that your friend has permissions to the temporary internet files folder.

I'd strongly suggest testing Safe Mode w/ Networking as well, to see if the problems persist there as well. As far as I'm aware, there's no widespread outage on IE - your roommate probably has some BHO loaded in IE, or a shell extension in explorer, causing the issue. Safe Mode w/ Networking should clear that up, if that is the case, and if it works there he'll know he has some cleanup to do.
