Numbering subparagraphs a, b, c, etc.

I want to do a numbered list for a will, with sections and subsections (ie. numbered paragraphs). I need the paragraphs to be numbered like this:

1a

b

c

2a

b

c

and so on.

I can do this:

1

a

b

c

but I don't know how to put the "1a" on the same paragraph. How do I achieve

this?

Format > Bullets and Numbering > Customize (lower right corner)

Use that to create a custom scheme.
