Word document opens slowly

Here is the problem...

On a machine that was upgraded to XP Sp2 I attempt to open a Word document directly by double-clicking on it.... It takes more than a minute for the document to finally open up.....

If Word is already open and I go to the document and open it, it comes up within seconds....

On a similar machine that has XP SP2 installed directly (no upgrade).. the document opens up within seconds in both cases....

Has anyone experienced this before?

is office SP2 installed on both PCs ?

is any of the PC having HP 57 or higher serier printer connected ?
