vinodh Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 I have a laptop that has it's internet connection shared. It's connected to a 8-port switch. My Pc, with Vista 5384, is connected to the switch, and therefore has internet access. However, whenever, I plug in the pc to the switch, my pc's cpu usage immediately goes to 100%. I tried killing various processes, searching and applying various fixes with no improvement. If I disconnect the lan pysically, I have to restart the pc to get cpu usage back to normal. If I plug it back into the switch/LAN, the cpu climbs to 100% and everything grinds to a halt. The process svchost, is the culprit. Stopping the process only helps for a few seconds. It just restarts with 100% cpu usage by itself. Any help is appreciated.
vinodh Posted July 1, 2006 Author Posted July 1, 2006 Fixed! Removed NOD32 and installed Mcafee Enterprise 8.0i. Thats it. Wierd, though.
