Ardjuna Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 (edited) Hello all,I have a problem with adding some tools (such as Super Fdisk [formating utility] and Acronis DriveCleanser [wipping utility]) on multi-boot DVD. Can anyone help me, please!!! Super Fdisk is a small tool to partition, resize and format hard disk. It could be saved on FDD or CD (having just about 1.4 MB in size). When I burn it on CD, that CD is bootable. I know how to extract boot-file from this CD, but I don't know how to implement it into CD Shell menu (what command should I use to boot the Super Fdisk tools), and where to put this image-file (whether .bif, .ima, or .iso) in the DVD structure? I used "flyakite" way of creating multi-boot DVD. Everything works just fine, except booting these kinds of tools. The same applies to Acronis DriveCleanser. It's a tool for wipping the whole hard disk or any chosen partition. It could be also in FDD or CD form. When I check the Super Fdisk CD, there are maybe 10 files (autoexec.bat, config.sys, etc.), but when I check the Acronis DriveCleanser, there are even no files visible (even though I use "show hidden files" option). The only think I can do is to extract the boot-file (.bif or .ima). But what to do with it, and what command to use in CD Shell menu??? Please help!!! Any suggestion is appreciated.Ardjuna. Ardjuna Posted June 29, 2006 Author Posted June 29, 2006 PS: I have tried to use Ultimate Boot CD (UBCD) or add a links directly to CD Shell menu (on my multi-boot DVD) to boot from IMA images (command: if $lastKey == key[5]; then memdisk acronis.ima), but without any success. There was an error like missing something in the %config%, and other things I don't understand. Actually I can give here the snapshot (of the different errors), but not today (I don't have it with me right now).Ardjuna.
Ardjuna Posted June 30, 2006 Author Posted June 30, 2006 (edited) Finaly find answer: In some cases there's obviously no solution!!!If you want to add some bootable CDs or floppies to your "Multi-OS bootable DVD" or "Ultimate Boot CD" (UBCD) or whatever Windows CD, follow this way:1. First you need to save the content of this CD/floppy as .IMA image file.(You can use WinImage for this).2. Copy this .IMA file to the root of your source CD (i.e. Multi-OS bootable DVD or Ultimate Boot CD or any Windows CD).3. Create a link pointing to this file in the boot-menu (whatever menu you use; I use CDShell for example, so my link would look like: if $lastKey == key[7]; then memdisk /image.imaPS: "image.ima" is in this example your .IMA image fileHowever this does not work for every .IMA image files (as far as I know). For example I wanted to implement Acronis DriveCleanser wiping tool, but this way just did not work. When you open Acronis DriveCleanser CD or 6 floppies in WinImage, you see nothing! All the files are hidden, so there is probably no way (at least no way known to me) to extract them, so that you can edit them or save them as working .IMA file. Similar applies to Super Fdisk formating tool. Super Fdisk has all the files visible, but even if you save them as .IMA image file, this image just doesn't work. Maybe there is some way how to finaly make it, but I don't know how. If anyone has a deeper insight into these things I would be glad if he/she can share theire procedure.YoursArdjuna.
