XP_2600 Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 Guys, if i enabled Windows Firewall (which come with 2k3 SP1) in a server running DHCP and DNS and Active Directory services, am i need to open all ports for all of these services manually or its open them automatically ?
allen2 Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 You should need to configure the firewall at least for the dns.
fizban2 Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 do you just have a single NIC? or is the machine also a gateway to the net? if it is just internetwork traffic you really don't need a firewall in place, IPsec would be more secure anyway
XP_2600 Posted June 30, 2006 Author Posted June 30, 2006 No its not the gateway, the router is the gateway, but the machine offer DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, Live Communications server, SQL, ftp and HTTP.
