Snuggles Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 (edited) Hello,I'm trying to create a custom install using RIS that will support at least 6 different systems. Because of the number of systems I'm trying to get away from "image" based installs. We are currently using Ghost and while it works fine having to maintain the images 6 times over is a pain. I've looked at RIS and it seems that RIPREP is similar to ghost in that it will be 1 image per machine install. I'm currently using RIS to install Windows XP Pro but I'm not using RIPREP, I've intergrated the network drivers for the machine into the Text setup section but I need to automate installing the drivers during the GUI setup. Has anyone done this? Thanks for the help. Edited June 20, 2006 by Snuggles
Beest Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Have you even read this? http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=12566
Snuggles Posted June 20, 2006 Author Posted June 20, 2006 I did read that and I even tried to get it going but I received some errors while copying files so I assumed that it would only work with CD based installs. I'll give it another go round tomorrow.
RogueSpear Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Just a little friendly advice.. drop the RIPrep and just use RIS flat images. You'll save a lot of time and hassle.
