I am aware that MCE is supposed to only work with certain hardware; however, after reading what Microsoft has for an HCL on their site, I am at a loss. Example: I do not understand what type of hardware they are talking about, because I checked under nVidia, and no video cards were listed... Do they just mean hardware along the lines of TV Tuner cards and various other "media" related devices? So, should the core hardware of the computer be acceptable?

I am asking this because I have a Dell MCE 2005 reinstallation disk, but I have troubles with it on my desktop computer (not the one I purchased from Dell). It will install just fine, but when Windows attempts to load, I get a blue screen error telling me to check for viruses (of which there are none). So, I stripped out all of Dell's extra software and ran the setup again. Same thing.

Any suggestions? Or even how to incorporate MC into an XP Pro installation? (I know that this is within the Ultimate Edition post, but I got nowhere following that).

Thank you in advance.

that windows cd is an OEM version, it is tailored for use only on Dell pc's, therefore can't be used to install on a different pc. that's what i know. nlite it and see if it works. also, reinstalling on a dell pc comes with a bsod?
