Problems installing XP

Featured Replies

Hei

A few days ago I decided to format my computer, but when i tried to install XP on my computer again it didn't get further then "Setup is starting Windows" before it crashed. After that I tried to start it in Fail Safe Defaults, but I got the same blue screan I have also tried booting XP directly from CD, but also then it crashed. What could be the problem?

My machine configuration

CPU: Intel Pentium 4

Main Board: MSI 915 p Neo2 platinum edition

Memory: 2x 124 DDR 2 533mhz

Graphic Card: nVidia Geforce 6200 turbocache

I also have TV tuner card ATI Saphire Theatrix

Before you formatted your computer, did you get any BSOD yet?

You probably have some hardware that is playing up. I'll check that first.

And what's the bugcheck code? Is it a 0x7e?

The message I got was "Stop: 0x0000007b (0xf78d2524, 0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

That one is INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE, meaning XP doesn't have drivers for your IDE or SATA (or SCSI) controller - did you provide it an F6 driver?

Remember, no F6 drivers with $OEM$ preinstall=yes in winnt.sif.

(I think)

That's correct - you need to use $oem$\textmode if you are using =yes
