ok, with help from a friend who did me a slipstreamed version of windows to use with my current cd key i now have one that is up to date. the only problem is i need to tweak it a little and i want to slipstream some apps into it to automatically install e.g. firefox, winamp etc.

i had asked on other forums if it was possible to do this using the slipstreamed version of windows i already have and creating another copy on other forums with no definite answer. can anyone help me with the answer??

Of course you can. Just rip the CD to your hard drive and follow the directions on the unattended site. You'll need to figure out (either by inspection or by asking your friend) which method your friend used to slipstream the apps, but other than that, you should be fine.
