Hey guys new to this forum looks great ! be even better if i can get this error sorted

Its a laptop made by ei systems new install of xp sp2 seems to work ok, but in device manger i get yellow markers (!) <-- and ,this device cannot find enough free resources that it can use, there are loads of them the nic is doing it audio and few more?!?! in system info i get sum conflick yes i can see them bt how do i fix them ?? cheers guys im new into the IT inustry and made for learning so fill me up !!!

First I'd check microsoft updates, instead of express, select custom and see if Microsoft finds any hardware updates. Install these and see if they remedy your device Attention icons. If that doesn't work, I'd go online, find the latest driver for that device, remove the existing one, re-install or update that device.

It generally says what other driver or hardware it's conflicting with. Also check if there are updated drivers for that device.

Is there anyway to update a system via downloading the updates then installing them as one of the devies on the laptop that is not working is the NIC so i wont be able to download any??? but wat i could do is download them on anouther system if u c wat i mean

Huh, the picture is becoming a little more complete. So you installed service pack 2 and then you noticed a bunch of your devices (drivers) are knocked out--namely your network adapter? Try removing your network adapter in device manager and then restarting your PC. The driver is already in your system folder and if it was working before the service pack was installed, it's most likely the correct driver. When new hardware is found after re-boot, let windows find driver and see if that resolves your nic issue. Once you get your connection back, then try getting back on Microsoft Updates and do a custom update. See if Microsoft update can fix the bugs it created.

Hey!

I have tried to remove the nic from device maneger and restart it does not make difference to the others i have tried to install the latest driver for the NIC but it still does not make a difference is there anyway i can download updates via anouther computer and transfer via media??? (dont think so as it need to kno wat u need and i dont need any!!! ))

To download via another PC, you'll have to go onto the manufacturers website and download the driver for your model. And if it is not just your lan card conflicting, and maybe usb ports don't work, you'll obviously have to use a CD or something.

That's why I said, scrap windows update for drivers, it only has drivers for hardware in the Windows Catalog. Goto the manufacturers site and dl drivers.
