In my winnt.sif file, under [components] section, I have set

[components]

msmsgs=off

msnexplr=off

pinball=off

fax=on

However, setup still installs messenger and msn explorer and fax services is not installed.

Anyone have similar problem. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I thought this would be clear cut.

It is working for me

Mine looks like this

[Components]

msmsgs=off

msnexplr=off

AccessOpt = Off

Deskpaper = Off

Fax = On

Media_clips = Off

OEAccess = Off

WMAccess = Off

The only thing is I have to manually remove Windows Messenger in my Cleanup.cmd

%SYSTEMROOT%\system32\RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection \windows\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

there's not a difference between yours and mine except the # of components.

i'm not sure why, i've tried it twice and both times, msn explorer installed.

Also, I disable the zonegames and although their shortcuts were not in start menu, they were still installed and I had to add/remove to remove them.

msn explorer however installed it's shortcut in menu.

and again, it is et-up in same way as mine and they don't get installed here.

Is your components section last in your winnt.sif? thoug i don't think that the order of sections makes a difference, it may be worth a try placing at end

it's close to end but it's not at the end, although i agree that order probably doesn't matter.

how annoying - i don't want any traces of msn explorer or messenger. i guess only way around is to nlite and remove those components.

The order definitely does not matter. Mine is working okay. MSN Explorer is not installed and the FAX is installed.

The only problem is Windows Messenger. It is not installed and I had to manually remove the components with the command above
