dhruba.bandopadhyay Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 I like to record TV shows/dramas (eg. Lost, Invasion) using my digital terrestrial box connected to my laptop. It contains a schedule timer to start recording at specified times (9pm, etc.). However, sometimes I have to leave my PC switched on in the morning (at 8am) before I go to work... when I don't make it home in time after work.. or I may go out after work, etc.Is there any way to make a PC/laptop switch itself on at a specific time, so that the windows scheduler can perform it's tasks?

oioldman Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 most have a wake up on modem or equivalent feature in BIOS.I know MODEM is one so can receive faxes, so maybe a call to the house will be enough to wake it up.
LLXX Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Wake and Power-On are different... Wake is to wake up from Sleep mode, Power On is a cold boot. It seems most BIOSs have this feature, as I discovered when attempting to figure out why random computers at the school I worked at were turning themselves on as if they were haunted
