But remember, you can make free calls within the US and Canada to both landlines and mobile phones until the end of the year. It’s really easy; there are no contract fees, no line rentals. All you need is Skype and a phone number you want to call.

I just tried this out - I opened up Skype, dialed my home number and the phone started ringing...this could get very interesting...

yeah i got an email from them yesterday about this and i almost did not believe it. Havent tried it yet but I am certainly going to.

Skype is the best IM/Softphone imo. However I don't like closed protocols etc so I am keeping an eye on WengoPhone NG - which btw is at Alpha2 right now.
