ODC Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 (edited) I've turned off AutoPlay in the registry via the HKLM\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ policies\ Explorer\ NoDriveTypeAutoRun method. This works very well; AutoPlay is not envoked when I place a disc in the drive. However, if I right-click on the drive icon, I notice "AutoPlay" is bolded, indicating it is the default option. I then verified that double-clicking the drive icon initiates AutoPlay, and the autorun.inf file is parsed.I do not want this to happen. I want to explore by default. How can I change the default behavior?EDIT: Hmm. I came across this information which leads me to believe that the above is not possible:Bypassing or turning off AutoPlay only stops programs that automatically launch from launching. It does not stop Windows from processing the AUTORUN.INF file. Therefore, if the AUTORUN.INF file has specified shell actions, you're double-clicking the drive will still launch the program instead of enabling you to browse the disc. Edited May 14, 2006 by ODC
