office 2000 sr1 profesional update

I'm trying to make an update of this version of office 2000 sr1 proffesional but with service pack i tried so far it tells me that "the expected version of the product was not found on your system".I undestood that but on the office 2000 update page the only service pack update available was the one who don't want to install.

I tried to update it even a multilanguage version of the office ,no result the same problem.

i had this issue, and so then i applied the SR1 and then sr2 then sr3 and post sr3 updates and it went ok.

for some reason even though you have sr1 you need to apply it before being able to apply sr2 and onwards.

I have no idea why that is the case, but that is what i learnt. I also discovered that for some reason it will install office instead of applying sr3 to the admin image.

did you have any luck in doing this as i needed to redo mine and did in this order and allorked perfectly fine.

1. create your admin installation oint

1a. <cddrive>:\setup.exe /a data1.msi

2. applied updates in following order

Office 2000 Service Pack 1a (admin SP)

Office 2000 Service Pack 3 (admin SP)

Security Update for Access 2000 Snapshot Viewer (KB826292)

Security Update for Office 2000 WordPerfect 5.x Converter (KB824993)

Security Update for Word 2000 (KB824936)

Security Update for Office 2000 (KB822035)

Security Update for Word 2000 (KB830347)

Security Update for Excel 2000 (KB830349)

Security Update for Office 2000 WordPerfect 5.x Converter (KB873380)

Security Update for Excel 2000 (KB873372)

Security Update for Word 2000 (KB887977)

Security Update for Word 2000 (KB895333)

Security Update for Word 2000 (KB905553)

Security Update for PowerPoint 2000 (KB905555)

Security Update for Excel 2000 (KB905757)

Security Update for Outlook 2000 (KB905646)

2a. Applied them all using this install command:

msiexec.exe /p <folderpath>\<updatefile>.msp /a <officeinstalllocation>\data1.msi SHORTFILENAMES=TRUE

and it worked a charm

is it the way to slipstreamed it? oh yeah do we need all the security update if the computer not connected into network/internet?
