laser21 Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Hi, I have a new pc-configuration and its driving me crazy. My unattended install disk (ryan vms pack is in it also) works like a charm, but after the first reboot, it wont boot again! Not even Safe mode. It stops at tdi.sys. Tried replacing it, but it doesnt help. Finally I found out, that its caused by udpates. When I do a install of an simple XP with only SP2, everything is ok, until I let win connect to the internet and install all updates. Then the same happens as I mentioned before. This never happened to me before, so it could be also harware related in a way-incompatibility. I dunno. The best for me, would be finding out, which update does it. Any help is greatly appreciated, as Im working on it for 4days...Thanks a lot in forwardMB:Asus A8N32SLI with bios 1103Proc:AMD 64 4400 X2RAM: 4x512MB hyperX Kingston RAM150gb WD RaptorATI 850XT PT 256MBCreative Xfipower supply-500W Thermaltake
Grunth0s Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Quick question...Are you installing all of the windows updates or just the critical ones?I have seen issues with MS Update applying driver changes which causes a machine to fail.TDI.SYS is one of Microsoft's driver files, so it sounds like one of the patches has corrupted this, or one of your devices needs a different version of the file.Personally, I would never let windows update anywhere near my driver files.
laser21 Posted May 6, 2006 Author Posted May 6, 2006 I just figured it out! It was the oemkrnl.exe, which includes the boot-bitmap. That file got corrupt in a way, and it always stopped booting...no MS fault..this time Thanks anyway
