helpalwaysneeded Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Well ive been using exchange for some time now but monday I ran into a problem that i cannot fix. We arent able to send email to any external email addresses. I get a message back every time. Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. Subject: Sent: 5/3/2006 10:54 AMThe following recipient(s) could not be reached: 'stevenweaver1@hotmail.com' on 5/3/2006 10:54 AM The recipient name is not recognized The MTS-ID of the original message is: c=US;a= ;p=Angelica's Recor;l=*****-060503175354Z-844It is telling me this for every email that i send out side of the network.. Well if any one can help it would be GREATLY appreciated... thanks in advanced.
cluberti Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 I'd say it's a DNS problem, but can you provide the headers (sanitized, if necessary) of one of your failed messages? Also, check the DNS settings on your Exchange server, and make sure they're pointing to a working DNS resolver!
chilifrei64 Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 also check your smtp logs. One thing I have found helpful is hotmail normally sends back a quasi smtp status upon failure. check your logs for that email address(which I would turn to a fake one in your post so he doesnt get spam) and check and see if hotmail leaves a status. That will tell us weather or not you are resolving hostnames and communicating with their email servers.
