I haven't really messed with XP at all.

Can you run services in WindowsXP Home edition like you can in 2000Pro and NT workstation? or do you have to have XP Professional?

Have a look see at that there article, and it will explain the differences between PRO and HOME. Depending on the services you want, that article should tell you what HOME can do and what it can't.
