When trying to upload my website via http on frontpage 2003 an error message comes up saying:

1) Web server may not have the FrontPage server extensions installed.

2) The web-server may be temporarily out of service.

3) If you are connecting through a proxy server the settings may be incorrect

4) An error may have occurred in the web server

The host does have FrontPage extensions installed.

And does not let me go any further, i understand that a few people have this problem and it's nothing to do with the hosting company, however i still cannot find an answer.

When trying to upload via ftp it says that publishing is successful but when looking at the website on the internet an error page comes up.

Have i missed a step when designing the website? is it something to do with my remote web location? or none of that?

cheers for the help.

If you don't change some settings in Frontpage to make it produce code that is compatible with older browsers you will get this problem on non-Frontpage servers. The host needs to provide the Frontpage extensions, or you need to change your Frontpage options to be more compatible.
