[Help]Remote desktop problem

I have a very strange problem. That is, I have 3 computers at different places. Now I want two of those(A and B) to connect to the same computer C with mstsc.exe. The firewalls of all these computers have been closed. It works fine when I use the computer A connect to C. But when I use computer B connect to C, it shows that "Remote computer is not online" -- typical connection error message. However, I am sure B can connect to C because I can "ping" C in B. Then I use A to connect B, it works fine too. In short, B can be connected, but it can't connect to other computers. I don't know what might cause this problem. By the way, A and C use the same ISP, but not so does B, but I don't think it will cause this problem, does it? I'll appreciate any kinds of help. Thanks a lot.

you did not tell us about the places:

if A and C are behind the same router, and B is somewhere in the world, then you have to tell the router to connect C on some ports...

also there might be some firewall-settings in B preventing you from connecting...

They are not behind the same router. They are all far between each other. And I use the "mstsc.exe" that is embeded in XP OS. I don't know how to tell the router about connected port. Could you give me more hints? About the firewall-settings, I am quite sure firewalls on B (PC-Cillin firewall and XP embeded firewall) have been closed. I can ping B on A and I can connect to B on A with mstsc.exe. However, B cannot connect to any other places. What might cause the problem? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks for your help!

RD talks on port 3389-so you need to forward that port to the box(s) behind the router. I'd also check that Remote Desktop is allowed as an exception in your software firewalls. I'd guess that the firewall on B is blocking outbound traffic....but there are plenty of network geeks here that no doubt will be able to give better guidance.

ok the computer that wont let you remote desktop to it, open the software firewall (if it has one) and allow port 3389

now go start->run->ipconfig and find your default gateway

type that ip in your browser

now you will be managing your router, find a section that deals with port forwading (maybe NAT depending on what router you have)

now add a rule that tells the router that any traffic (TCP) that comes in destined for port 3389 must be forwarded to the ip address of that computer (check back in that ipconfig you did)

that should do it
