It's saying you're getting an "Access denied" on the system process when you're booting up (that's what the c0000005 means) - does this also occur when you boot into safe mode via the F8 boot menu?

Welcome to the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)! The critical information is the stop code (a hex value like the 0xc000005 you have). There may also be a reason listed as INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE or a file listed as the source of the problem. Generally, you can google the code or message and track down your problem.

It automatically restarts b/c that's XP's default behavior. To stop that so it stays on the BSOD so you can read it, you need to change the behavior (when you can get back into it). Right-click My Computer and go to Properties. On the Advanced tab hit the Settings button under Startup and Recovery. Under the System Failure section ensure the Automatically restart box is NOT checked. Or you can set this registry value:

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CrashControl\AutoReboot (REG_DWORD) Value=0

Actually a 0xc000005 means a buffer overrun, meaning the windows subsystem is, for some reason, accessing memory beyond its allocated range. This is either because your system is infected with a virus or there's a bug.

The "real" value of c0000005 is an Access Violation, due to lack of permissions. You won't see buffer overruns giving c0000005 errors on boot that correlate to buffer overruns. During running OS, yes, but on boot, no. Those are specific during boot, and some code (likely a driver) is access violating in kernel, which is what the STOP code is stating (cryptically, without a dump file to review, but that's what it is).

Sorry, I thought you could get into it thru Safe mode. You would have to be able to find and fix the problem outside of the OS from a WinPE CD, a linux boot disk or by slaving it into another system. Given the lack of info to go on, it's gonna be a tough job.

Personally, for a situation like this, I would rebuild. You can't get access to the system to do much about the problem and I tend to cut my losses when faced w/the law of diminishing returns.

WinPE is a pre-installation environment, a pared down Windows environment, that can be very helpful for working on an NTFS drive having problems. MSFN has a whole forum for it here.

Given your response, I'd stick w/just rebuilding the system.
