unusualvb
Hello allI have a DELL 8400 3.2ghz processor with 1 gig of ram. I currently purchased a Maxtor 100gb SATA HDD & a copy of Windows XP Home - SP2 OEM. When i try to install XP to the new Maxtor XP cannot recongnize the hardrive...But my bios and other stuff does. I tried loading 3rd party drivers that the maxtor provides but XP still doesnt see my HDD. Can anyone help me figure out why.tnx~ Edited April 11, 2006 by unusualvb
LLXX
Try enabling "Emulate SATA as PATA" option if there is one in the BIOS.
spacesurfer
Third party drivers don't work as well as your original motherboard drivers. You'll needs to download your SATA/RAID drivers from Dell website and copy the SATA/RAID drivers to a floppy and use those.I've recently bought a Maxtor SATA drive and did the same for the ASUS motherboard.
