Doctor Trout
I was thinking of this last time I installed Windows XP, and, really, the whole install process seems to be slowed down by the fact that all the files on the CD are compressed. Now, of course, orignally, we would have had to do that to fit them on one CD, but, now we have a) DVDs and B) nLite, and, as such, we can make our iso quite titchy... but, what is the point making the ISO really 200 megs, if we're going to whack it on a 700 meg CD anyway. So, I was wondering, is there a way, or does anyone have any ideas how you would go about making a Windows install CD where the files aren't compressed. I mean, surely that would save quite a lot of time when installing Windows, wouldn't it?Just a thought really...
Kelsenellenelvian
Been there, tried that and it failed miserably! Found out that it is MUCH quicker for the compresed files to be decompressed as they are being copied (As is done in normal windows setup). Doing this took my setup almost twice as long. glent
It has been discussed before, think about it , if you uncompress the files then they become bigger correct?Bigger files take longer to copy from cd/dvd to your hard drive..There was a thread sometime back and the results showed little or no improvement
