hi all, I'm trying to install explorer 7 on windows 2003. it currently starts and I can surf without problems, but the main menu isn't displayed. I have patched the setup.exe file and i have copied two dll but i think i miss something. has anyone installed it successfully?

first i have tried to install it by editing the update\update.inf file but it says he can't validate that file. then i have patched the update.exe file for skipping the checks on the os version and it worked until the end of the setup, when he showed an error box and restarted my pc. then i have copied the wininet and urlmon dlls to my windows directory and ie7 worked.

I am running IE7 on Windows 2003 (SP1) from leaked one to latest beta.

To install IE7 on Windows 2003 (SP1) you have to edit the update.inf file like following:

	CatalogFile			   = %SP_SHORT_TITLE%.cat
	LanguageType			  = %LangTypeValue%
	MaxNtBuildToUpdate		= 9999
	MaxNtMajorVersionToUpdate = 5
	MaxNtMinorVersionToUpdate = 2
	MaxNtServicePackVersion   = 256
	MinNtServicePackVersion   = 0
	NtBuildToUpdate		   = 3790
	NtMajorVersionToUpdate	= 2
	NtMinorVersionToUpdate	= 1
	RebootRequired			= 1
	Signature				 = "$Windows NT$"

and save the original file to another location, run update.exe and when the setup start quickly copy the original file to the update folder. But you have to do it very quickly or you can create a batch file.

And the setup will run smoothly...and so will IE7.

the installer closes itself after 10-20 seconds :(

You patched it to bypass genuine validation check???

Discussion of circumventing WGA/activation/timebombs/keygens or any other illegal activity will also not be tolerated. If you ignore any of the aforementioned you will be banned without notice.
