darkfire010
I was wondering if it is possible to run Counter-Strike 1.6 off of a network share. My programming teacher at school lets us play and occasionally plays with us in our Java/Visual Basic lab. But we may not be able to continue if we have to install it on every computer. The Steam Files are registry so it would all be ligitimate. If not possible with Steam than we can use our retail versions of Counter-Strike 1.5.Well i found the solution to my problem. I shared my steam folder over the network (in offline mode) then on each computer i just mapped that share to a drive letter. Then i just created a shorcut to it using the drive letter rather than the \\ and host name. It works great. I have tried this so far with me and 20 friends all playing on one copy!!! off of one share..!! Edited April 13, 2006 by darkfire010
